EXECUTIVE SEARCH

Search Methodology

Schall & Russo’s executive search practice is led by Steven Schall, who has worked as an executive, program manager, planner, and social worker in community development, health care, and social services during his 40-year career. His organizational leadership and staff development experience are essential and distinguishing ingredients in helping clients find the right match. Since 2004, Schall & Russo Planning Works has identified, evaluated, and presented a diverse array of professionals to assume public sector, non-profit and international NGO leadership positions.

There are two partners in the firm. Steve Schall leads all the executive search work. He is the person who will stay in close touch with the client and talk/meet with dozens of candidates. Clients and candidates alike have praised the quality of the process and have remarked how unusual it was to work with the named partner, rather than with less experienced associates

As a retained executive search consultant, Schall & Russo’s role is to provide guidance and advice to an organization for the recruitment and hiring of a leadership position. Steve devotes substantial up-front time with the client and key stakeholders to: understand the organization and its path; clarify the challenges and opportunities presented by the position; and develop a clear, concise, and inspiring job announcement. Next, he maps out a plan with the client for candidate review and screening, interviews, and reference checks. Then, working closely with the client, Steve skillfully facilitates decision-making, negotiation, and the offer.
